As a user lights the candles, the music grows and is layered to create an ethereal and enveloping sound piece.

We began this piece thinking about the essence of sacred objects. Is it possible, we wondered, to make something that felt like direct communication with the worshipped? We built this altar which reads the candlelight through a series of photocells. Each tier of the altar is linked to a different musical track, so that the sound grows incrementally and in complexity as more offerings are made.
